In 2008, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco became the first after-school program in the country to become an Edible Schoolyard affiliate. The Edible Schoolyard, a demonstration garden and instructional kitchen model designed by Alice Waters, founder of Berkeley’s famed Chez Panisse restaurant, has introduced Club members to healthy eating through hands-on education.
